2012 Mexico Workshops

I am super excited to announce my 2012 workshops.  The workshops will take place in Mexico, and I’ll be teaching them with another awesome photographer.  For the first set of workshops (3 total), I’ll be teaching with an amazing young talent Karrah Kobus, who blows me away with her creativity every time (To see her portfolio, go here). The workshop will be focused on creativity.  My job will be to lay the foundation by teaching about the technical side, and Karrah will be discussing the topics of creativity and imagination.  She’ll also be demonstrating how she creates the mind blowing surreal images, from the conception of the idea to the final touches in Photoshop.

The second set of workshops (2 total) I’ll be teaching alongside one of my favorites photographers ever – Gabe McClintock (Perspectiveye.com).  He is absolutely amazing at photographing the love between two people, capturing that connection between two souls.  That is why we are calling this workshop “Connect”.  My role in the workshop will be to help wedding photographers perfect the technical side of photography, and Gabe will teach on how to take your photography to the next level by infusing it with real emotion & love between two people.  We will also teach about how to run a successful wedding business.

Both workshops are organized by the amazing Pamela Barron Cobo and are dirt cheap – only $300!  If you’ll be flying from the United States, Pamela will help you with the travel questions.  If you have questions, you can email me at info@danielusenko.com or Pamela at workshop@pamelabarroncobo.com.

And finally here are the dates:

DREAM TO REALITY with Karrah Kobus: (1) June 7-8 Mexico City  (2) June 11-12 Cancun (3) June 14-15 Monterrey

CONNECT with Gabe McClintock: (1) November 26-27 Mexico City (2) November 29-30 Monterrey

Mexico 2011

This past June I had a wonderful time teaching workshops in Mexico; first in Mexico City & then in Monterrey. It was a crazy two weeks of 7 days of workshops; definitely one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life. I’d like to thank every single person who was a part of this experience – the attendees, the models, Max Lopatin (Visual Impels) for making the amazing recap below, and for Pamela Barron Cobo for organizing the events. The images here are the ones I shot with the attendees at the workshop.

Mexico City Workshop

Alright boys and girls, I’m super excited to announce this Mexico City Workshop, coordinated by Pamela Cobo. Although I’m teaching three workshops there, June 16-17 will be the only one Americans will be allowed to :) (we won’t have a translator for this one). Spaces are limited of course, so if you think you want to join, please contact Pamela asap at workshop@pamelabarroncobo.com. She’ll take care of you well.

$290 includes only the workshop; travel and lodging fees is something the photographers will have to take care of on their own. Pamela has all the info on which flights to take, where to lodge & eat, where to have fun, etc; you won’t be lost, promise :)

If you’re wondering what I’ll be covering at the workshop, and whether you should come, here’s some info that might be useful:
1. If you don’t know what aperture, shutter, and ISO are, then you’re definitely not ready. Of course you still have some time to learn that until the workshop.
2. Ideally, you should be a people/wedding photographer with some sort of website and a desire to learn. This isn’t the requirement, but the type of people I am expecting.
3. The workshop will basically cover in depth my philosophy and approach to photography. I’ll show you exactly what I do to make my images look the way they do. Equipment, light, posing – all that will be covered.
4. Photoshop won’t be covered in depth, because there is simply too much information there. I plan by June to produce a DVD that will probably end up being around 8 hours long, and will cover all the fine details of my editing. It’ll be reasonably priced, and you can purchase it in the summer.

Well I think that’s all for now. If you have questions, feel free to ask me or Pamela.

Hope to see you there!
