After finishing a beach session at the end of Alla&Daniel’s Wedding (in San Fran), and trying to dry my equipment that got wet in the ocean, I noticed these two laying in their WV van. There was some time to spare, so after complimenting their awesome van, I started chatting with them. Turns out they’ve been laying there for hours, looking out in the ocean. It was their first “hang out” alone; I asked them if that’s a date; they looked at one another and agreed that it was. And of course, I had to take some pictures too. None are staged; all these are completely real. They completely ignored the camera – even when I was inches from their faces; that is a formula for the most amazing, real pictures.
Ironically, I am going to the beach too in a few hours. I haven’t been out of the country for almost 15 years, so I can’t wait to enjoy my Mexico trip, where I will teach a workshop, and hopefully find enough time to enjoy the sun. This mini vacation comes at a great time; the stress of a summer full of weddings can really wear you down. But of course, I’ll have my camera everywhere during this eight day trip, so many more images to come.
Finally, I want to say thank you to all those who follow my work & keep giving me compliments when you see a photograph that impresses you. Your kind words are really the reward for the hard work, and there’s nothing better than hearing positive feedback after sitting endlessly in front of a computer screen, trying to get each detail of the photo just right. And of course, big thanks to my couples, who are the best couples in the world. This year I have photographed weddings of some amazing people. I feel extremely privileged to play such a big role in people’s lives. Thank you.
